How We Work Together

From General Contributions to a Living Legacy

Through the generosity of private donors, EFB was able to create an Engage Endowment that will ensure funding for the unique opportunities that keep local education viable.  The EFB Board of Trustees are volunteers and as such are subject to variability.  The Endowment, once fulfilled, can remove the annual burden of fundraising and free the Trustees to explore, innovate, and inspire in other ways. The target of the Endowment is $5M; to date we are about 40% of the way there!

To leave a legacy of education, pay it forward, in memory or tribute,

 An Inspirational True Story:

After receiving a mailing from the EFB, Dave and Carolyn Cleveland

proposed a tremendously generous idea.

They offered to match, up to $500,000, whatever the foundation raised for an endowment over three years, beginning in April 2019. Due to very generous area support the EFB not only raised enough donations to meet the match, it was done in less than half the time - in just 14 months. Amazing!

“Over the years we have enjoyed supporting education and are pleased with the opportunity to assist the Educational Foundation of Birchwood in their goal of building a $5,000,000 commitment,” the Clevelands said. “We join with the foundation in their ‘firm belief that no child should be denied a first-rate education just because they have a Birchwood address.’”

The Clevelands (retirees that moved from the Twin Cities to the Sarona area)

saw the potential their pledge could make in the long-term

aspirations of the foundation and school in helping students

prepare for future lives in Birchwood and beyond.
